You can see by this picture that the current cleaner was only scraping a few inchs up into the duct. I presented the owner with a comprehensive estimate to restore there system to "Bare Metal" but after several attempts to schedule the owner blew me off and as far as I know he is still using the local cleaner who is ripping him off every time he services the system. Hopfully the owners realize the risk they are taking by turning there back on the poor work they are receiving, they maybe saving some money now but in the long run if the restaurant should burn due to grease buildup in the duct system the cost will be far greater. Owners of these restaurants need to be educated about the risks of not cleaning there Kitchen Exhaust System to NFPA 96 standards. Per NFPA 11.6.1 Upon inspection if the exhaust system is found to be contaminated with deposits of grease-laden vapors, the contaminated portions of the exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained, qualified, and certified company or person (s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction.
