TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - A restaurant in the 2000 Block of East Broadway Boulevard had to close after the kitchen caught fire on September 20, according to a press release.

The manager of this restaurant called 911 after a fire started in the kitchen duct work above the stove. Six people evacuated the restaurant and waited outside in a safe area.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the kitchen area that had spread into the walls and duct work of the building. The fire took only nine minutes to extinguish.

The kitchen fire caused $25,000 in damages. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

The restaurant is closed for business until repairs can be completed.

No injuries were reported.

You can see by this picture that the current cleaner was only scraping a few inchs up into the duct. I presented the owner with a comprehensive estimate to restore there system to "Bare Metal" but after several attempts to schedule the owner blew me off and as far as I know he is still using the local cleaner who is ripping him off every time he services the system. Hopfully the owners realize the risk they are taking by turning there back on the poor work they are receiving, they maybe saving some money now but in the long run if the restaurant should burn due to grease buildup in the duct system the cost will be far greater. Owners of these restaurants need to be educated about the risks of not cleaning there Kitchen Exhaust System to NFPA 96 standards. Per NFPA 11.6.1 Upon inspection if the exhaust system is found to be contaminated with deposits of grease-laden vapors, the contaminated portions of the exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained, qualified, and certified company or person (s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction.

Pictures From Restaurants

Want to start posting some pictures of duct work that I have run accross. Most Restaurant owners have no idea what risks they are taking when it comes to cleaning there Kitchen Exhaust System often opting to hire the cheaper company to service there system. My company Mobilwash Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Services pride ourselves on cleaning to NFPA 96 standards "Bare Metal" what I have run accross in the last year while preforming estimates on many restaurants in the area are pressure wash companies that are taking advantage of local restaurant owners by cleaning only the areas where the owners can see. What concerns me is that I have been taking pictures of these defecincies and bring them to the attention of the owners and they yet they only seem to be interested in the cost.

Hello from sunny Florida !!!! Opening post just wanted to give a little information about myself and my company. My name is Dan I work a full time job as well as running Mobilwash. At this point my company customer base will not support our family so I must continue to work my job until I'm able to go full time with Mobilwash.

Mobilwash, LLC was started in Oct 2007 Mobilwash is a full service Pressure Cleaning Company we are a certified Kitchen Exhaust Hood cleaning company as well as offering services in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors such as building exteriors, sidewalks, driveways, pool patios, screen en closers, roofs and much, much more. Our history dates back to 1997 where we owned another company called Mobilwash of Vermont we owned and operated this company successfully for over 6 years. In 2003 our family decided the move to the Treasure Coast in sunny Port St. Lucie, Florida for a better life ah SUNSHINE!!!! it really does make a difference. We only decided to open another pressure wash company because we saw a need for an experienced, knowledgeable well rounded company to service all pressure washing needs on the treasure coast. Our reputation will be built on the quality of the work we preform. I hope if your a potential customer on the treasure coast and you are reading this give me a call all estimates are FREE and we would love to show you what we can do. Thanks D. Hulbert
